2011 Ford F-150 To Sport 3.7L V6 Base Engine?

2011 F-150 to get 3.7-liter V6 base engine
Ford recently announced that they will be launching nine new engines and six also new transmissions by the end if this year. But Ford has been keeping a secret: that the Ford F-150 will possibly have a naturally aspirated V6—in addition to the EcoBoost 3.5 liter V6 planned for this year.
As Ford has already disclosed, the F-150 will be benefiting from an Ecoboost 3.5 liter V6 that can perform with V8-like power yet with V6-like fuel economy. Now, reports have been circulating that a second V6 for the F-150 is also being considered. The 3.7 liter V6 can also be found under the hood of the upcoming 2011 Mustang V6. Should the reports be true, the F-150 will be back with a base-V6 for the first time since Ford has stopped offering V6 for its F-150s way back in 2008.
The new V6 can give the F-150 with about 305 horsepower and 285 ft-lb of torque—the same with what it provides the Mustang V6 with. That’s 103 horsepower and 23 lb-ft of torque more than the previous V6 of the F-150.
Ford also had in mind the fuel economy of the new engine, as it managed to turn out 19 city and 30 highway miles per galloon in the Mustang. The same will be expected of the engine should it find itself in the F-150.
