Futuristic-Looking EDAG Light-Car Open-Source

Geneva 2009: EDAG Light-Car Open-Source
This futuristic-looking car was seen during the Geneva Motor Show which opened this week. Known as the EDAG Light-Car Open-Source concept car, this black bubble beauty is an electric car with lots of innovative contents inside. For starters, it makes use of the (O)LED technology in both the exterior lighting units which can be configured by the driver and the in-car television screen with safety features. This technology allows both driver and passengers to see who’s trailing them as well as give them the opportunity to check out present road conditions improving the car’s safety features.
The car is light as its chassis is made of lighter-and-cheaper-than-carbon-fiber material known as basalt fiber which is a hundred percent recyclable. And since this is an open-source effort led by EDAG outside developers can improve and modify the car’s technologies.
The EDAG Light-Car Open-Source is a lithium ion-powered car that has joined the ranks of other environment-friendly autos. It has an intelligent electric drive system that has improved the car’s efficiency. So what prompted EDAG Group to create this concept? The usual answer is of course the rising fuel prices and environmental concerns starting with CO2 emissions.
