2009 Proton Exora
The 2009 Proton Exora was featured during the Proton Technology Week. The name Exora or ixora, which is a red flower common in the tropics, is the winner in a contest with 251,763 entries. The name was submitted by a teacher from Changlun who will get the 2009 Proton Exora as the prize. Proton chose the name as has a more global connotation that reflects the auto manufacturer’s end goal.
The all-new platform from which the 2009 Proton Exora is based can be used by Proton in a larger vehicle in the future. For now, the MPV will have a 1.6-Liter engine producing 125 horsepower. It will have dual-zone air conditioning, a feature which is endemic in Proton cars. It would be of interest to note that the people behind the Exora bought eleven copies of the Toyota Wish for close study.
The 2009 Proton Exora will have an April roll out date with a price not exceeding $21,900 according to Proton managing director Dato bin Syed Mohd Tahir. Proton assures the safety of the 2009 Proton Exora with a front sub-frame that serves as an impact absorber in case of accident.
